Historic JMHS Messengers

On this day in 1789, George Washington is sworn in as the first American president and delivers the first inaugural speech at Federal Hall in New York City. Elements of the ceremony set tradition; presidential inaugurations have deviated little in the two centuries since Washington's inauguration.

South Vietnam surrenders; When they attacked at dawn on April 30, they met little resistance. North Vietnamese tanks crashed through the gates of the Presidential Palace in Saigon and the war came to an end. North Vietnamese Col. Bui Tin accepted the surrender from Gen. Duong Van Minh, who had taken over after Tran Van Huong spent only one day in power. Tin explained to Minh, "You have nothing to fear. Between Vietnamese there are no victors and no vanquished. Only the Americans have been beaten. If you are patriots, consider this a moment of joy. The war for our country is over."

Der Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler, dictator of Germany, burrowed away in a refurbished air-raid shelter, consumes a cyanide capsule, then shoots himself with a pistol, on this day in 1945, as his "1,000-year" Reich collapses above him.

And on this day in 1975 students at James Madison High School were reading this edition of "The Madison Messenger" and were just learning about gas shortages.

Friday Night Out - 11/11/11

Party with us on November 11, 2011 in West Bend, WI

Hey if you missed the reunion, here's another opportunity to get together with the class.

It's not often that the calendar aligns like November 11, 2011. So Judy Stippich (Drost) said, "Hey let's have a party!" That started the ball rolling.

We hope you can join us on Friday, November 11, 2011 from 6:00p until Midnight at the Fred A. Schaefer VFW Post located at 260 Sand Drive, West Bend, WI 53095.

Cash Bar, Bring Snacks, Orders will be taken at the event for Januli's pizza that will be delivered fresh and hot. Januli's is owned by a fellow classmate Julie Sears (Schramm) and is known for her world famous pizza recipe.
